The application of TA hyper dispersant in repair paint

This article describes the application of TA hyper dispersant of special structure in repair paint,in particular,the application characteristic of dispersing some high surface paint.

1.Some of the dispersant type currently applied to repair paint

1.1 Ionotropic dispersant:mainly APAM,such as carboxyl, sulfonyl,ionic ammonium and inorganic metal ions.The molecular weight is small.It is the earlier types and based on electrochemical theory and there are still a lot of use. 
1.2 Molecular weight type:the molecular weight of this type dispersant is big and the structures of the Molecules are AB-Type or BAB-type or block or compound and so on.The structure is regular and has a crystalline,such as BYK163 EFKA-4401 S32500,etc.
1.3 Ultra-high molecular weight type:highest molecular weight,high structural regularity,based on steric stabilization theory.For example,BYK161 S2400,ETC.

2.The structure characteristics of TA ultral dispersant.

2.1Medium molecular weight
  The higher the molecular weight,the stronger the steric hindrance.But simultaneously take into account their solubility.the low molecular and thin adsorption cannot create enough steric and the paint is easy to produce cohesion.
2.2 BAB-Type comb-like structure
  A polymer dispersant structure must meet two requirements.
(1).The polymer chains in molecules can be required solvent or resin solution which play the role of space stabilizing(the role of solvent chain)
(2)Must be absorbed on the surface of the particle.
Pro solid anchoring group(polar group),solvent-based segment is on the both sides and introduced a number of polar groups in the main chain segment and formed comb-like structure.
2.3 Compatibility
2.3.1 Compatibility with solvent:have good compatibility with aromatic esters, ketones,alcohols,ether esters.
2.3.2 Compatibility with resin: have good compatibility with various types of acrylic resin, amino, alkyd, polyester, epoxy, fluorocarbon, polyurethane, phenolic and other resins,vinegar small cellulose,nitrocellulose,etc.

The content of Titanium Dioxide is up to 70% in TA-102 in PU leather white pulp. TA 103 has the superior performance of preventing the film blurs.

5.1 Spread rate
The initial fineness decreased rate of TA-100-50 is faster,but with the increase of the pigment particle crushing rate makes the viscosity increase and reduced the kinetic energy of grinding media,therefore,the extension of grinding rate decline over time.
5.2 Hue L,a,b values  0-100,with red and green,yellow and blue.
5.3 Color intensity
The increase of pigment with grinding time is of course not without extreme and when the pigment strength will go flatten.it is different for different pigments.
The use of TA-100-50 polymer dispersant in the pulp mill can make the intensity of paint play faster.It can exhibit higher color strength in the possible grinding time.But the grinding slurry of higher color intensity contains a higher proportion of very fine pigment particles and is easy to flocculation.The polymer dispersant can play a efficient stabilizing role.
5.4 Stability
Viscosity and hue changes after 30days 50 centigrade storage.

6. Eliminate blurs

The prime paint in the automotive repair paint,especially when transfering paint using the organic pigments and inorganic pigments is easy to produce blurs,results in uneven color and affect the quality.We developed a polymer dispersant containing polar groups—TA-103 treat inorganic pigments
(titanium dioxide in particular) and solute blurs.

Floating color mostly shown in floating white.Reason:Titanium dioxide generally exists in agglomerate form,the surface polarity is high,easy to flocculate with resin.And this polymer dispersant can close,penetrate and absorb in the surface of the pigment particle,and flocculate edge solution and coated titanium dioxide particles while grinding and form steric to get stable paste.
Some usual used additives containing silicone ingredient actually covered the coagulation status,only changed blur into floating color,may even bring some side effects such as:shrinkage,bubble and so on.

7. Strong Points

Improve the luster---dispersed into very fine particles,large particles removed,made very fine and uniform pigment particles and increased the brightness.Reduced the ghost image and improved the film’s DOI.
The added amount:adding a samll amount of polymer dispersant to get stable high concentration colorant,but improving the color intensity is practically impossible.
Viscosity breaking---high concentration colorant----improve production efficiency.
Increase the intensity of pigments and decreased the cost of pigments.
The miscibility is good---- the generability is strong
Steric---stability is good
Eliminate blurs----improve products quality.
